Day by day
Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu
Drive north past Mount Kenya to Samburu National Reserve, arriving for an afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro river.
Day 2: Samburu
A full day looking for the “Samburu Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and Beisa oryx, plus elephants and big cats.
Day 3: Samburu to Lake Nakuru
Drive south to Lake Nakuru National Park for an afternoon game drive.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
Morning game drive at Nakuru for rhinos, then on to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride among hippos and fish eagles.
Day 5: Lake Naivasha to the Masai Mara
Drive to the Masai Mara, arriving for lunch and an afternoon game drive.
Day 6: Masai Mara
A full day in the reserve, following the wildlife wherever it leads.
Day 7: Masai Mara
Another full day, or add a sunrise balloon flight or a visit to a Maasai village.
Day 8: Masai Mara to Nairobi
A last morning drive, then return to Nairobi in the afternoon.
